Labor's Big Split: Pain Before Gain
The union's decline is based on their inability to change. If you look at union demands, it's all about me-too and other places have this, so why don't we clauses. It's not about what's best for the workforce, but what's best for the senior workers. Not that that's wrong, but but it is only one way to look at the equation. What about merit? Or the best worker? Those fields that have those type of workers, don't want to unionize. Or maybe they haven't been impressed with what the union can do for them.
