Gerson's makes some good points, especially on the overreaching on both sides. The thing that's missing out of his column is why the budget hardliners don't want to insure the kids. Iraq is costing untold billions of dollars with no end in sight. With this drain on the Treasury, where are you going to be able to find money for insuring kids?
