Ugly Airline Math: Planes Late, Fliers Even Later - New York Times
Those late planes aren't bad, they're worse than you think. If you count missed connections, overbooked flights, weather, etc, air travel is worse than reported. I'm not sure why the results of travel aren't more closely studied. There's a good data set and it's sexy. Calculating lateness, by when passenger reach their final booked destination seems like such good sense. Maybe in the next life.
